Greek - Daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Wife of Perseus. Mother of Alcaeus, Electryon, Gorgophone, Heleius, Mestor, Perses and Sthenelus. She was chained to a rock in the sea as a sacrifice to the sea monster sent by Poseidon when her mother boasted that her daughter was more beautiful than any of the Nereids. She was rescued by Perseus and, at her death, placed in the heavens by Athena. Also referred to as Andromeda.
