Greek - Son of Erginus. Step-brother of Trophonius. Father of Cercyon, some say. He and his brother built a temple to Apollo and, after six days of merrymaking, died in their sleep. In another account, they built a treasury for the king, Hyrieus, leaving a secret access so that they could steal the contents. The king set a trap which caught Agamedes and Trophonius cut off his brother's head so that he could not betray their secret. A similar story is told of King Rhampsinitus. Also known as Agamedes.
