Hindu - A group of early gods, sons of Aditi or of Dyaus and Prithivi. Variously given as a triad (Aryaman, Mitra and Varuna) or a group of six (with Anisa, Bhaga and Daksha) or eight. In later years the number was increased to twelve (guardians of the months of the year) by adding Dhatri, Indra, Ravi, Savitri, Surya and Yama. Some lists include Aditya, Marttanda, Varuna, Vishnu and Vivasvat. In some accounts, known as Adityas, Aditya, Aditya, Celestial Deities, Celestial Deities, Daityas, Daityas, Danavas or Asuras.
